the moon

I met the moon the other day
He said he had danced with sun
That is until she rose and set the other way.

He told of hours of twirls between the two
Before the world awoke
And before she lost him in the blue.

I found him broken hearted
fading into the dark
For not a single star could ignite what the sun had once started.

Ashamed of his tears the moon’s eyes curled
Only to catch a twinkle in his sight
For there beneath him danced a girl on the edge of the world.

A ray of sun left behind by his love
Until the clouds push away
And they meet once again above.
